Wheel of Wishes symbolMicrogaming’s recent approach to slots is something you either love or hate. We have our reservations, but we do like them highlighting brand new software providers. It allows relatively new studios to try things they may not be able to otherwise. That is the case with Wheel of Wishes developer Alchemy Gaming! Players who play this online slot can look forward to four progressive jackpots and a toggle-able power mode. Something a brand new software provider would not be able to do!

The graphics in this release are done quite nicely. The background image is set in a massive desert, with numerous rolling hills covered in sand. In the distance, we can see a few red rock mountains stand tall, and are the only landmark to guide you. Activating the special feature swaps the desert from daytime to night time. The blue sky gives way to a dark one covered in stars. We can also see a light on in a hole in the distant mountain, indicating someone lives there. All of these are small things, but they go a long way in making us feel immersed. Now let’s delve deeper into this new Labslots review.

How it Works

You play Wheel of Wishes on a five-reel board with ten fixed paylines. That means players cannot turn individual paylines on or off in order to change their total bet. In order to win, players have to find three or more identical symbols in adjacent positions. All winning combinations must follow an active payline and need to start with the leftmost reel to grant a cash prize. The user interface is identical for both desktop and mobile devices. All the buttons like the spin button, Auto Play, bet value and turbo mode are on the right side of the screen. In the upper right corner, you can open extra settings and the paytable. Players can bet between £0.20 and £20.00 with each spin.

Available icon designs are a mixture of playing card suits and more unique symbols. We have the colourful spades, diamonds, hearts and clubs, as well as a pink circle. These icons serve as the lower value symbols. An amulet, flasks, a spell book, a treasure chest and a lamp are higher paying icons. Wilds are the most valuable symbol, and can substitute for all icons except for Scatters. Scatters are represented by the bonus wheel symbol, and does not have its own payout.

Wheel of Wishes Bonus Rounds

In order to win one of the progressive jackpots, you need to activate the Power Spin special feature. This is triggered by landing at least two Scatters on the playing field. Getting three, four or five Scatters grants a cash prize worth 5x, 50x or 500x your total stake, respectively. Once this mode is active, giant 3×3 icons will appear on the middle three reels. At the same time, reels one and five will transform into a random high value symbol.

Another way to activate Power Spin is to trigger Power Mode manually. To do this, you click the Power Mode button in the bottom left corner. This makes every spin you play a Power Spin, giving you an increased chance of winning the progressive jackpot. However, this is a hefty increase to your wager. All your bets will be increased by 10x, making this option something only high rollers will consider.

If a bonus wheel lands fully in view during the power spin, it activates the Jackpot special feature. During this bonus, players spin a virtual lucky wheel. The wheel is skewed heavily towards the lower value progressive jackpots. The mini jackpot has the most segments, while the most valuable WowPot! progressive jackpot only has one segment. If you want to score the biggest possible win, you need to get super lucky.

Wheel of Wishes game win

Players who enjoy progressive jackpots will have a blast playing Wheel of Wishes. This slot offers not one, but four options, which is something we really like. That said, we would have liked to see more special feature. As it currently stands, the game solely relies on activating Power Spins to give you something different. Punters can trigger Power Mode to skip the grind, but the extra cost places it outside the budget for many. Despite a few flaws, we do think this game is worth playing.
