Intro: Game Theme

Do you ever feel like going back to the good old days? Back when slots were a simple affair, and boiled down to simply spinning the reels? If so, then Gamomat has a treat for you! Venture back in time with Stacks of Jacks, and enjoy a modern, full-HD rendition of a thrilling fruit slot! It emulates them nigh on perfectly. Right down to the absence of any notable special features! Fortunately, you have access to two different gambles to spice up gameplay and prizes.

The background image is a gentle cyan, repeating the same pattern. There are no animations to draw your attention to it, or any effort to spice it up. It just exists to add a bit of filler. All your attention will be focused on the reels themselves! There, you can expect to find all the traditional symbol designs like bars, fruits and jokers. A few of these icons even have some gorgeous animations! We particularly like the one for the joker Wild, who laughs and winks as he helps you complete a winning combination. How much you like the visuals will mostly depend on whether you enjoy fruit slots or not.

Short Summary

  • RTP: 96.16%
  • Betting Range: £0.10 – £100.00
  • Max Win: £200,000

How it Works

You play this game on a five-reel board with ten fixed paylines. We expected to see flexible paylines like we have seen in every other Gamomat release so far. However, that is not the case here. Wins are created when three or more identical symbols follow the same active payline, starting with the leftmost reel. All winning icons have to be next to one another in order to award a cash prize. While they did not go through with flexible paylines, the developers kept the same control panel! This means we can easily keep track of button functions using their colours. Spin and Auto Play buttons are green, while the number of active paylines and your bet level are orange. The purple Max Bet button will immediately set your wager to is maximum possible value, while the blue button opens a paytable. In the upper left corner, you have access to a setting menu. You can also turn sound on or off or toggle full screen mode. You can wager between £0.10 and £100 on each spin.

Symbol designs will be something old-school players will love. Cherries, lemons, oranges, plums, grapes and watermelons are back on the reels, looking better than ever! However, Stacks of Jacks did more than just bring back fruit icons. We can also enjoy golden bells, lucky sevens, a green bar symbol and a black and white double bar icon! The smiling Joker serves as the Wild and is the only special symbol in this slot.

Bonus Rounds

The game was designed to be without any major special features. However, it does have a small bonus in the form of its Wild. It can substitute for all other icons, and it appears stacked on all reels! That means when it does land, you have a greater chance of creating a winning combination.

After every win, you can choose one of two gambles. The Card gamble tasks you to predict whether the facedown card’s colour will be red or black. Correct predictions will double the initial win you wagered. A wrong guess means you lose everything, including the winning money you started with! If you want to lower the risk this gamble provides, you can press the half button. This will only play half of your initial win instead of the full amount. If you are satisfied with your gamble winnings, you can press collect to end the bonus.

Meanwhile, the Ladder gamble places you on a literal ladder. Your initial win is placed somewhere, and you can climb the tower to unlock bigger wins! You can also fall down, decreasing your prize and even losing it all if you are not careful. When the gamble begins, a highlighted area will alternate between two positions. Click the button when it is above your wager to climb. You win by reaching the top or choosing to collect. This gamble cannot be played on big wins.

We have no doubt this release will be very popular with a specific crowd of players. Personally, we prefer our games to be a little more modern. Stacks of Jacks heavily relies on its gambles to enhance existing wins to create something interesting. If that sounds like something you would enjoy, then jump into this slot and have fun! For everyone else, we recommend something a touch more modern.
