Releases built around music bands and performers are nothing new. The developers do not try to reinvent the wheel as far as the graphics are concerned, either. All the action takes place on a brightly lit dance floor. Several colours intersect above and beneath the reels, creating an interesting background image. One further enhanced by a man with a giant mouse head standing in the shadows just off to the side. Whether Deadmau5 looks cool or terrifying here is something we will leave our readers to decide. Now let’s delve deeper into this new Labslots review.

How it Works
You play this slot on a five-reel board with 243 ways to win. That means paylines have been phased out, and cannot be turned on or off individually. Winning combinations are formed by matching three or more identical symbols, starting with the leftmost reel. All wins must be adjacent to one another to grant a cash prize. The layout is slightly different to what we are used to from Microgaming, but it is still easy to use. Through it, we can change our bet, spin the reels, turn on Turbo Mode and set up Auto Play. In the top right corner, we can access the paytable and settings. Players can wager between £0.20 and £120.00 on each spin.
Icon designs are good, but could be a bit better. The four playing card suits are digitized, with little graphical imperfections present along the edges. Other symbols include four party girls dancing to the music or staring passionately into the camera. The artist’s trademark mouse head serves as a Wild, while the crazed mouse is the Scatter icon. Neither offer direct payouts, but enhance your existing gameplay alongside the special features.
Deadmau5 Bonus Rounds
After each winning combination, the game removes symbols that were part of the win. Existing icons will fall down to take their place, while brand new symbols fall down to fill in any empty positions. This is the Rolling reels special feature, and it can grant several wins for the price of a single spin. There is no limit on how many times players can benefit from it, so cross your fingers and hope you get lucky!
Punters can also randomly activate the Drop the Wild bonus. This can turn reels two, three or four completely Wild! The bonus can transform one, two or all three reels at the same time! If all three reels are transformed, you are guaranteed to score a prize. While it is a difficult special feature to find, it makes up for it by being quite lucrative.
Land three, four or five Scatters to win fifteen, twenty or twenty-five free spins. Players also get a cash prize worth 5x, 50x or 250x your total stake. You cannot retrigger the free spins, so what you win initially is what you get. During the bonus, a Multiplier Trail will be active and visible above the reels. Each time you score multiple wins using Rolling Reels, the multiplier will increase. First to 2x, then 3x, 4x, 5x and finally 10x. The multiplier is reset once the chain of consecutive wins is broken.
Verdict
Honestly, playing this release felt like we were revisiting one of Microgaming’s old classics. Deadmau5 is not a bad slot, but it clearly relies on star power and a dash of nostalgia to succeed. The special features are all familiar from other titles, and the RTP is a touch too low for our liking. Even so, we still think this game is worth checking out. It may not be the very best, but it is still a fun experience to enjoy. Check out our list of slot sites to see where you can try it out!
